As from 1 April 2011, it is not possible to pay for goods and services with the CZK 50 banknote featuring a portrait of St. Agnes of Bohemia on its face side. The note ceased to be legal tender on that day. Only the CZK 50 coin, designed by Ladislav Kozák, remains in circulation.
The invalid banknotes could be exchanged by CNB offices in Prague, Plzeň, Hradec Králové, Brno, Ostrava, České Budějovice and Ústí nad Labem to 31 March 2017.

In 2010 the Bank Board of the Czech National Bank decided that the note would cease to be legal tender on account of the coin’s greater durability and the related reduction in money circulation costs. Coins last in circulation for decades, whereas notes must be changed every 3–4 years.
