Bank Lending Survey

The Bank Lending Survey provides information on the Czech bank credit market obtained by the CNB in a survey conducted four times a year. It sums up where credit standards and terms and conditions for approving loans are heading and how demand for loans among households and corporations is changing. The survey also covers credit market developments expected by commercial banks in the months ahead.

April 2026
In 2026 Q1, banks’ credit standards and lending conditions for corporate loans and housing loans were largely unchanged, while they eased for consumer credit. Demand for loans increased across all segments of the credit market and was supported by the level of interest rates. Growth in demand for housing loans reflected expectations of a continued increase in residential property prices, while higher household consumption expenditure supported demand for consumer credit. In both cases, demand was also underpinned by solid consumer confidence. Corporate demand for loans increased due to the financing of fixed investment, corporate acquisitions and working capital.
