President appoints three new Bank Board members

President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman today appointed three future members of the Bank Board of the Czech National Bank. With effect from 1 July 2022, Eva Zamrazilová, Jan Frait and Karina Kubelková will become new Bank Board members. At the same time, the President appointed Eva Zamrazilová as Deputy Governor.

The three new members replace Governor Jiří Rusnok, Deputy Governor Tomáš Nidetzký and Bank Board member Vojtěch Benda, whose six-year terms of office expire on 30 June 2022, on the seven-member Bank Board.

Eva Zamrazilová is the Chairperson of the Czech Fiscal Council. She has already held the position of Bank Board member once, in 2008–2014.

Jan Frait is the Executive Director of the CNB’s Financial Stability Department. This will be his second term of office on the Bank Board. His first was in 2000–2006.

Karina Kubelková is Chief Analyst of the Czech Chamber of Commerce. This is the first time she has been appointed to the CNB Bank Board.

The CNB Bank Board has seven members, selected and appointed by the President of the Czech Republic for a term of six years. No one may hold the position of Bank Board member more than twice. The CNB will be newly headed by current Bank Board member Aleš Michl, whom the President appointed Governor on 11 May 2022 with effect from 1 July 2022.
