Turnovers on the money market in the week of 11-15 April 2005
In the week of 11-15 April 2005 a regular survey was conducted on the daily average turnovers on the money market. This survey is carried out by the Czech National Bank regularly twice a year with participation of all relevant domestic banks dealing on the money market.
As compared with October 2004 figures, the daily average turnover increased from CZK 44.6 billion to CZK 52.6 billion, thus reaching the highest level since 2002. This increase is related mainly to a rise in deposit operations with non-residents with the maturity up to three months, which went up by more than 40% in terms of volume to CZK 27 billion. After the significant decrease that was seen in October 2004, the figure came back to the same level as in the previous surveyed periods. The volumes of other instruments do not differ significantly from the previous reviewed periods.
On the whole, deposit operations with the maturity up to three months are still the most significant on the money market, accounting for almost 98% of the total turnover. Other instruments are used rarely. In particular, the volume of repo trades is still very low (CZK 97 million). Repos with non-residents and repos with the maturity over 3 months are not traded at all.
