New Executive Director of the Cash and Payment Systems Department

On 1 February 2016, Josef Ducháček will become the new Executive Director of the Czech National Bank’s Cash and Payment Systems Department. The Bank Board took this decision at its meeting on 21 January 2016.

Josef DucháčekMr Ducháček (55), who is currently Deputy Executive Director of the Cash and Payment Systems Department and the department’s Acting Executive Director, graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Economics in Prague. He first joined the CNB in July 1986, when he worked in the financial market area and, as a deputy division director, was responsible for methodological management of the money market. From 1994 to 2006 he held managerial posts in commercial banks (Velkomoravská banka a.s., Pragobanka, a.s., Raiffeisenbank, a.s.) and from 2006 to 2009 he worked as a consultant and lecturer in financial consulting.

In March 2009, he returned to the CNB, becoming Director of the Administration Department’s Business Division. In February 2012, he was appointed Deputy Executive Director of the Cash and Payment Systems Department, responsible for methodological regulation of the work of the CNB’s branches in the payment systems area. He is also responsible for overseeing the Cash and Payment Systems Department’s operational divisions in Ústí nad Labem, Plzeň and České Budějovice and supervising compliance with duties under the Act on the Circulation of Banknotes and Coins, including organising special courses on counterfeits. He undertook a traineeship at the Bank of Canada focusing on the money market and commercial bank management systems.
