PSM ke 150. výročí bitvy u Hradce Králové

On 29 June 2016 the Czech National Bank is putting into circulation a CZK 200 commemorative silver coin to mark the 150th anniversary of the battle of Hradec Králové. The coin is minted from an alloy containing 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper and is issued in two versions, normal quality and proof quality, which differ in surface treatment and edge marking. Proof-quality coins have a highly polished field, a matt relief and a plain edge with the inscription in Czech “ČESKÁ NÁRODNÍ BANKA * Ag 0.925 * 13 g *”. Normal quality coins have milled edges. The coin is 31 mm in diameter, weighs 13 g and is 2.2 mm thick. As with any other coins, deviations in diameter of 0.1 mm and thickness of 0.15 mm are allowed. Upward deviations in weight of 0.26 g and silver content of 1% are permitted.

The obverse side of the coin symbolically depicts the outcome of the battle by featuring the vertical text “RAKOUSKO” – symbolising defeat – to the left of the centre of the coin field and, in the opposite direction, the text “PRUSKO” – symbolising victory – to the right of the centre of the coin field. The name of the state “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” is written around the right-hand edge of the coin. The denomination of the coin “200” is located to the left of the text RAKOUSKO, with the abbreviation of the monetary unit “Kč” below. The mark of the Czech Mint, in the form of the letters “Č” and “M”, is located near the left-hand lower edge of the coin. The reverse side of the coin also symbolically depicts the outcome by showing the Austrian eagle in the left half of the coin field and the Prussian eagle to its right. The left-hand edge of the coin contains the years “1866 2016”. The right-hand edge of the coin contains the text “BITVA U HRADCE KRÁLOVÉ”. The initials of the designer Roman Shamilyan, in the form of letters “S” and “R”, are located at the left-hand lower edge of the coin.

Each coin comes with a green catalogue card containing a description and the relief of the coin.

The Czech National Bank sells its commemorative coins through contractual partners licensed to trade in numismatic material.
