The payment statistics monitor the use of payment services and payment infrastructure in the Czech Republic. They include, in particular, data on payment cards, numbers of accounts, terminals, payments by type of payment service and payments by type of terminal. The data are reported by monetary financial institutions, payment institutions, electronic money institutions, payment account information administrators, postal licence holders and selected small-scale entities operating in the field of payment services and electronic money.
Payment statistics developments
In the second half of 2025, the trend towards cashless payments continued to strengthen. Both the number and value of card payments and credit transfers continued to increase, while the use of cash declined further, as reflected in lower numbers of ATM cash withdrawals and over-the-counter transactions. These developments were also reflected in the payment infrastructure – the number of payment terminals increased, while the number of ATMs fell below 5,000. At the same time, cross-border payment activity increased, both in payments by non-residents in the Czech Republic and in payments by residents abroad.
