CNB Bank Board member and Chief Executive Director Luděk Niedermayer comments on the June inflation figures

12.7.2000

The rather higher inflation outturns for June are largely due to the foreign price trend, particularly in the area of oil prices, and to seasonal influences. Consequently, this result - like the other macroeconomic indicators - does not give rise to considerations regarding a pick-up in inflation.

From the longer-term point of view it is necessary to maintain the favourable price trend, even in conditions of economic recovery or foreign price fluctuations.

The next Bank Board meeting at the end of July will assess all the new economic information and its effect on the forecast development of the economy.
