The CNB issues a bimetallic coin and a silver coin to mark the Czech Republic’s entry into the European Union

On 28 April 2004, the Czech National Bank puts into circulation a 2500 Kc coin with a gold centre disk and a silver ring and a 200 Kc commemorative silver coin to mark the Czech Republic's entry into the European Union.

The face side of a bimetallic coin bears in the gold centre disk the nominal denomination of the coin surrounded by 12 five-pointed stars. The ring bears a free grouping of heraldic animals from the state emblem of the Czech Republic and on its edge, house and state emblems documenting the historical development of the Czech statehood. On the reverse side, the centre bears the date of the Czech Republic' s entry into the EU surrounded by twelve five-pointed stars. The ring bears a circular inscription of significant years of the Czech history and the text relating to the theme of the coin. The designer of the coin is sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů.

On the face side of the 200 Kc coin there is a composition of heraldic animals from the state emblem of the Czech Republic, the name of the state, the nominal value of the coin and 12 stars symbolising the European Union. The reverse side of the coin features stylised symbols of the current member states of the European Union and the name and date of the event on the occasion of which this coin is being issued. The designer of the face side is Josef Oplištil and the designer of the reverse side is Jakub Vlček. The both coins were struck by Bižuterie Česká Mincovna, a.s. Jablonec nad Nisou.
