CNB Bank Board discussed and approved the plan of technical assistance provided by the Czech National Bank to partner central banks in other countries

On 14 October 2004 the CNB Bank Board discussed and approved the plan of technical assistance provided by the Czech National Bank to partner central banks in other countries.

The 2005 plan of events is the fourth in as many years. Within this framework the CNB organises regular seminars and bilateral consultations (both in the Czech Republic and in the recipients' countries) aimed primarily at a target group of central banks in transforming economies seeking membership of the EU and in the countries of the former Soviet Union and the southern Balkans.

Through this transfer of expertise the CNB is to some extent repaying a moral debt dating from the early 1990s, when it was itself a recipient of considerable technical assistance, above all from the central banks of the most advanced OECD member states, and also drew on support from the EU, the IMF and other international organisations.

The CNB's activities in passing on its experience from the transformation period and establishing a modern central bank in key areas of its work (presented in the context of integration into the EU and the European System of Central Banks) are greatly appreciated by the recipients of this assistance. The CNB's professional reputation has also been praised by the International Monetary Fund and other international organisations. For this reason, our experts are regularly invited to take part in missions to third countries, alongside other foreign specialists.

As in past years, the 2005 seminar programme will be published on the CNB's website.
