Prize for the best economic research publication of the year

The Czech National Bank has awarded its prize for the best economic research publication of the year. The winning authors are Roman Horváth for his paper called “The Time-Varying Policy Neutral Rate in Real Time: A Predictor of Future Inflation?”, published in Economic Modelling, and Jan Filáček, who published his paper called “Why and How to Assess Inflation Target Fulfilment” in Czech Journal of Economics and Finance.

The prize has been awarded for the fifth consecutive time. Its principal aim is to motivate authors to write research publications on topics related to central banking issues and refine their work so that it can be published in prestigious economic journals.

The criterion for awarding the prize has two components. The first is derived from the impact factor of the journal that published the paper. The second indicates how the paper influenced the CNB’s thinking on the economic issue covered.

1 Today the impact factor is accepted by the majority of researchers as a method of assessing the importance of scientific journals. It is recalculated every year by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) for selected scientific journals, basically reflecting the number of citations from these journals over the last three years.
