ZM Hradec Králové – emise

On 3 October 2023 the Czech National Bank is issuing the sixth gold coin from the Municipal Heritage Sites cycle. It features the town of Hradec Králové. The coin is minted from 999.9 purity gold and is issued in two versions, normal quality and proof quality, which differ in surface treatment and edge marking. Proof-quality coins have a highly polished field, a matt relief and a plain edge. Normal quality coins have milled edges. The coin is 28 mm in diameter, weighs 15.55 g and is 1.85 mm thick. Deviations in diameter of 0.1 mm and thickness of 0.15 mm are allowed. Upward deviations in weight of 0.062 g and in gold content of 0.01% are allowed.

The obverse side of the coin features the interior of the empire-style Bono Publico staircase, incorporating heraldic animals from the large national coat-of-arms: the Moravian eagle on the left, the Czech lion in the middle and the Silesian eagle on the right. The text “MĚSTSKÉ PAMÁTKOVÉ REZERVACE” is located at the upper edge of the coin. The text “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” is below the heraldic animals. The lower edge of the coin bears the denomination and abbreviated monetary unit “5 000 Kč”. The mark of the Czech Mint, made up of the letters “Č” and “M”, is before the text “MĚSTSKÉ”.

The reverse side of the coin features a collage of Hradec Králové’s major architectural monuments. The Gothic medieval town walls with the Bono Publico staircase are depicted in the foreground. Located above the walls are, from the left, U Špuláků House, the Gothic Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, and the neo-Classical town hall, with the Renaissance White Tower above it. The statue of the Virgin Mary from the Baroque Marian column is also depicted in front of the town hall. The text “MĚSTO HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ” is at the upper edge of the coin. The year of mintage “2023” is situated at the lower edge of the coin. The initials of the designer of the coin Veronika Prokopová – made up of the letters “V” and “P” – are located to the right of the Renaissance White Tower.

Each coin comes with a red catalogue card containing a description and the relief of the coin.

The Czech National Bank sells its commemorative coins through contractual partners licensed to trade in numismatic material.
