Third Czech National Bank Workshop on Financial Stability and Macroprudential Policy

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Czech National Bank will host the Third Workshop on Financial Stability and Macroprudential Policy, following the success of its previous editions. The workshop offers an informal forum for researchers to present their work, exchange views, and receive feedback. Safeguarding financial stability increasingly requires addressing new and interlinked sources of systemic risk, from geopolitical tensions and rapid advances in AI to ongoing digital transformation. Policymakers must also contend with persistent debt pressures, shifting wealth distribution, and an uncertain macro-financial outlook. The workshop welcomes theoretical and empirical contributions on these and related areas:

• Emerging systemic risks: geopolitics, AI, cyber threats, digitalisation, and climate change
• Interactions between macroprudential, monetary, and fiscal policies
• Banking sector resilience and the post-GFC regulatory framework
• Real estate and credit cycles, including borrower-based measures
• Non-bank financial intermediation and bank–non-bank linkages
• Macroprudential policy in emerging markets and cross-border spillovers
• Debt sustainability under persistently high interest rates
• Stress testing and system-wide resilience analysis

The workshop will feature a keynote address by Ignazio Angeloni (SAFE at Goethe University and Bocconi University), and Peter Wierts (Bank for International Settlements).

Authors are invited to submit theoretical and empirical papers on the aforementioned topics. Submissions should be a full paper or extended abstract, submitted via the conference website's submission form below. Questions regarding the conference should be sent to research-finstab@cnb.cz.

The submission deadline is 21 September 2026.
Authors of accepted papers will be informed by 11 October 2026.

The conference will be held physically at the Czech National Bank in Prague, Czech Republic. Academic participants may ask for covering economy class travel expenses and accommodation (both subject to budget constraints). Participants from central banks are expected to cover their own travel expenses.
