The 5th CESEEnet Workshop 2027

CALL FOR PAPERS

CESEE.net is a research platform connecting economists working in central banks of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and in EU candidate countries and potential candidates. The platform focuses on policy-oriented economic and financial research with a particular focus on Central, Eastern and Southeastern European economies (CESEE). The network is hosted by Česká národní banka, Latvijas Banka, Národná banka Slovenska and Oesterreichische Nationalbank. We welcome paper proposals from researchers working at central banks of the ESCB, EU candidate countries and potential candidates, as well as from researchers at other institutions. Papers should deal with a macroeconomic or financial topic of relevance for Central, Eastern and Southeastern European economies, economic policymaking and EU integration.

Possible topics include but are not limited to the following:

• Inflation expectations and the drivers of inflation in small open economies; convergence and synchronisation with the euro area.
• Fiscal sustainability, labour market dynamics and demographic trends as drivers of inflation and growth.
• Structural changes in trade and reshaping of the supply chains: Rising share of services, geopolitical fragmentation and industrial policies.
• Climate policies (ETS 2 and related measures) and their effects on costs and competitiveness.
• Exchange rates as absorbers or generators of economic volatility, exchange rate shocks propagation through trade and financial links.
• AI, new data sources and advanced modelling in forecasting and analysis.
• Further topics with special relevance for the CESEE region.

The workshop will include keynote speech by Jesper Linde (International Monetary Fund) and Giancarlo Corsetti (European University Institute).

Papers should be submitted using the submission form below. Only complete papers or advanced paper drafts in English will be accepted. We also welcome participants to act as discussants without submitting a paper. The conference will be held in person. Participants from central banks are expected to cover their own travel expenses.

The submission deadline is November 15, 2026.
The authors of accepted papers will be notified by December 7, 2026.
