Vice Chairman of the Fed Board of Governors visited the CNB
Richard Clarida, Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, visited the Czech National Bank on 7–8 February 2019. In addition to meeting CNB Board Members and visiting the CNB Exhibition, Mr Clarida gave an academic speech.
On 7 February, after arriving at the Czech National Bank Mr Clarida visited the CNB’s “People and Money” Exhibition. At 3.30 p.m. the same day, he gave an academic speech on “The Global Factor in Neutral Policy Rates”, based on his 2017 working paper (external link), at the CNB Congress Centre.
On the second day of his visit, i.e. 8 February, Mr Clarida held discussions with the CNB’s management and senior economic experts. Mr Clarida closed his visit to the Czech Republic with a lunch with CNB Board Members hosted by CNB Governor Jiří Rusnok.
Richard Clarida, who has been Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors since 17 September 2018, is also Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Columbia University and the author of numerous frequently cited articles on monetary policy.
