Turnovers on the money market in the week of 18 – 21 April 2017

The survey on the daily average turnovers on the money market is carried out by the Czech National Bank regularly four times a year – always in January, April, July and October.

As compared to January 2017 figures the daily average turnover of deposit operations decreased from CZK 144.68 bln. to CZK 126.51 bln. that was driven mainly by decrease (of 11 percent) in trades with non-residents. However, their share on the total volume reached 99.7 percent. In terms of maturity, the most significant were those with the O/N maturity comprising almost 75.8 percent share of the total turnover. The volume of repo operations went up significantly in the surveyed period thus their share on the total turnover increased to 9.5 percent.

The turnover of derivative transactions IRS (Interest Rate Swap) decreased by 44 percent in comparison to January figures due to drop in trades with non-residents. The volume of FRAs (Forward Rate Agreement) went up (volume 1250 mln.) as compared with the last period when FRAs were not traded.
