Turnovers on the money market: 19–23 April 2004

The Czech National Bank surveys the average daily turnovers on the money market twice a year - in April and in October. All domestic banks dealing on the Czech money market participate in this survey.

The results of the most recent survey conducted in the week of 19-23 April 2004 do not show any considerable changes compared to the previous survey of October 2003. Both the total turnover (CZK 48.6 million.) and the percentage shares of particular instruments are comparable with the previous results. Deposits with maturity under 3 months still comprise the largest share of the total turnover (98.2%). Other instruments are rarely used. In particular, the volume of repos stays low (CZK 99 million) and repos with non-residents or with maturity over 3 months are not dealt at all.

Only the share of deposits with maturity between 3 and 6 months increased significantly, while the share of deposits with maturity between 6 and 12 months decreased by a similar amount. This is particularly apparent for the deposits with non-residents where the volume increased by 202.4% from CZK 125 million. in October 2003 to CZK 378 million in the most recent survey.
