New CNB Vice-Governor and new CNB Bank Board member
Current CNB Bank Board member Vladimír Tomšík (36) is to become a new Vice-Governor starting on 1 July 2010. On the same date, the current Chief Economist of Komerční banka Kamil Janáček (67) is to become a new CNB Bank Board member.
Czech President Václav Klaus appointed the new CNB Vice-Governor and new CNB Bank Board member at Prague Castle on 29 June 2010. Kamil Janáček will serve a term of six years. Vladimír Tomšík has been a member of the CNB Bank Board since 1 December 2006 and his six-year mandate is due to expire on 30 November 2012.
The CNB Bank Board will be complete, consisting of seven members, as of 1 July 2010.
The office of CNB Vice-Governor became vacant after current CNB Vice-Governor Miroslav Singer was appointed CNB Governor for a term of six years starting on 1 July 2010. President Klaus selected Miroslav Singer for the top job at the CNB after Zdeněk Tůma resigned from the Governor’s position as of 30 June 2010.
Vladimír Tomšík has been overseeing the Financial Markets Department, which conducts financial market transactions, and the Risk Management and Transactions Support Department, which manages the CNB’s international reserves.
