Commemorative coin to mark the 20th anniversary of the Czech National Bank and the Czech currency

In 2013, the Czech National Bank will issue a commemorative silver CZK 200 coin to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Czech National Bank and of the putting into circulation of the Czech koruna as the legal tender of the Czech Republic. The coin will be issued at the start of 2013. The CNB Bank Board has approved the addition of this coin to the schedule of issuance for 2011–2015.

The CNB, which is the sole issuer of Czech banknotes and coins, presented the 2011–2015 schedule of issuance for precious metal coins in June 2009. The schedule includes commemorative CZK 200 silver coins and a new cycle of gold coins called “Bridges in the Czech Republic”.

The CZK 200 silver coins will mark the anniversaries of prominent personalities and important events in Czech history. The CZK 5,000 gold coin cycle “Bridges in the Czech Republic” is a follow-up to two previous successful cycles “Ten Centuries of Architecture” and “Industrial Heritage Sites”.

The 2011–2015 schedule also includes two extraordinary issues of CZK 10,000 gold coins weighing one troy ounce and issues of CZK 500 silver coins marking the anniversaries of prominent personalities of Czech cultural life in the individual years of the issuing period.
