Appointment of new Director of the Macroeconomic Forecasting Division

The CNB Bank Board has appointed Mr Tibor Hlédik as Director of the Macroeconomic Forecasting Division with effect from 15 November 2004.

Tibor Hlédik graduated in operational research and systems theory from the Faculty of Science at Masaryk University in Brno, and in economics from the Central European University. He joined the Czech National Bank in 1994. In 1996 he became an adviser to a Bank Board member, and two years later he became a member of the board of advisers to the Bank Board. In 1997-1998 he contributed actively to a change in the CNB's monetary policy-making system. Since 2001 he has worked as an adviser to the Bank Board in the field of economic research. As co-ordinator for macroeconomic modelling he has also been a member of the CNB's Research Advisory Committee, which advises the Bank Board. In his professional work, Tibor Hlédik specialises primarily in macroeconomic modelling, inflation targeting and monetary rules. He has published in the Czech Republic and abroad. He co-authored the publication The Czech National Bank's Forecasting and Policy Analysis System.
