New management of the General Secretariat and the Communications Department

On 1 July 2014, Marek Petruš, Executive Director of the Communications Department and spokesman of the Czech National Bank, will become the new Executive Director of the General Secretariat. Tomáš Zimmermann, currently Deputy Executive Director of the Communications Department, will be put in charge of the Communications Department as from 1 July 2014. The Bank Board decided on these changes at its meeting on 19 June 2014.

Marek Petruš will replace Vladimír Kolman, who retires on 30 June 2014, as head of the General Secretariat.

“The Bank Board expressed its thanks to Vladimír Kolman for his many years of service to the CNB and its predecessor the State Bank of Czechoslovakia, where he worked – with a break – for a total of 32 years,” said Governor Miroslav Singer”.

Marek Petruš (41) graduated from the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University. He came to the CNB in 2009 from the Prague office of Egon Zehnder International. Before that he worked as a Reuters correspondent. He is fluent in English and holds the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.

Tomáš Zimmermann (43) graduated from the Czech Technical University. Before joining the CNB he worked as an economic correspondent for financial markets at the Czech News Agency. Since January 2011 he has worked as Deputy Executive Director of the Communications Department. He is fluent in English.
