New Executive Director of the CNB’s Communications Department
At its meeting on 9 April 2009, the CNB Bank Board decided to appoint Mr Marek Petruš as Executive Director of the CNB’s Communications Department. He will take up this position and the role of CNB spokesperson on 1 May 2009.
Mr Marek Petruš (35) graduated in media and communication studies from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University. Working as a correspondent for leading world press agencies he gained more than ten years’ experience of reporting on the Czech economy and monetary policy, banking and financial markets and prepared numerous news analyses and presentations on central bank communication.
Before joining the CNB, he worked at the Prague Office of Egon Zehnder International, one of the world’s largest management consultancy firms, where he was head of Market Research and Knowledge Management. Previously he worked for six years as a correspondent for Reuters. His journalistic experience also includes stints at Dow Jones Newswires, BridgeNews and the Czech News Agency CTK. He speaks fluent English and holds the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
Pavlína Bolfová, who has held this post since February 2004, is leaving the CNB to work in the private sector.
