FSI Award 2008

Petr Jakubík from the Czech National Bank has become a winner of the this year’s international competition for a prestigious award of the Financial Stability Institute (a part of the Bank for International Settlements in Basle). Every two years (since 2002), an international jury composed of governors and other outstanding bankers from all over the world selects the best papers on financial regulation and supervision. Petr Jakubík was conferred the award by Josef Tošovský, Chairman of the Financial Stability Institute and Elizabeth Rogers, Executive Director of the Financial Stability Institute on Wednesday 24 September, during the international conference of heads of banking supervision held in Brussels.

Petr Jakubík is an employee of the Economic Research and Financial Stability Department. He entered the competition with his paper written in cooperation with Christian Schmieder, an economist of the European Investment Bank. The winning paper deals with stress testing and credit risk and compares the Czech and German economies.
