CNB preparing to issue new version of 1,000 CZK banknote

The CNB is preparing to issue a new version of the 1,000 CZK banknote. The new note contains additional protective elements (a watermark, a protective strip, a bichrome iridescent strip, etc.), which will help the public to better distinguish counterfeit banknotes from genuine ones.

A draft decree containing a description of the differences between the 2008 version of the 1,000 CZK notes and the 1993 and 1996 versions of the same denomination and a description of the new protective elements is currently being circulated for interdepartmental comments. The banknotes will be put into circulation on 1 April 2008 and the public will be informed about the protective elements in good time.
