Karel Bauer appointed new Executive Director of the Financial Markets Department

At its meeting on 2 August 2007 the CNB Bank Board decided, on the basis of the results of a selection procedure, to appoint Mr Karel Bauer to the post of Executive Director of the CNB's Financial Markets Department with effect from 1 September 2007. A total of 11 candidates, both external and from the CNB, took part in the selection procedure.

Karel Bauer (41) graduated in mathematical engineering from the Czech Technical University in Prague (Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering). He has been working at the CNB, and its legal predecessor the SBCS, since 1992, first as a dealer and later as a banking expert. In 1999 he was appointed Director of the Risk Management Division of the Risk Management and Transactions Support Department. Since 2002 he has also been Deputy Executive Director of this Department. He has participated in numerous domestic and foreign seminars and internships. He speaks English and some French.
