Technical assistance provided by the Czech National Bank to partner central banks

On 13 October 2005, the CNB Bank Board discussed and approved the plan of technical assistance provided by the Czech National Bank to partner central banks in other countries.

The CNB has been providing technical assistance for five years and has become highly sought-after in this area thanks to its focus on thematic seminars and highly specialised consultations. Seven classic seminars are planned for next year, as well as a new workshop and short half-day seminars organised in partnership with CERGE-EI for foreign students interested in working at their national central bank. The seminars and bilateral consultations (in both the Czech Republic and the recipient's country) are targeted at central banks in transforming economies seeking membership of the EU and at central banks in the countries of the former Soviet Union and the Southern Balkans.

The CNB's activities in this area are mutually beneficial and enriching. CNB experts also take part in missions of the International Monetary Fund and other international organisations. Opportunities to become involved in joint EU-funded projects with other central banks are opening up.

As in past years, the 2006 seminar programme will be published on the CNB's website.
