Not to be missed

The year 2026 marks 100 years since the National Bank of Czechoslovakia began operations. To commemorate this anniversary, the Czech National Bank is issuing a commemorative banknote and opening a new exhibition at the CNB Visitor Centre dedicated to Alois Rašín. It also looks back at the history of the first independent Czechoslovak central bank and one of the earliest predecessors of the CNB.

Alois Rašín’s Office at the CNB

The CNB Visitor Centre is presenting a supplementary exhibition dedicated to the legacy of Alois Rašín, the first Czechoslovak minister of finance. The Alois Rašín’s Office exhibition uses modern audiovisual technology to illustrate key moments in the creation of the Czechoslovak currency, in which Rašín played a pivotal role.

At the heart of the exhibition is an audiovisual projection directed by Jiří Strach, featuring actor Ondřej Vetchý in the role of Alois Rašín. Visitors will discover the remarkable story of a man who profoundly influenced Czech history and learn about the key moments in the birth of the Czechoslovak currency and Rašín’s crucial role in shaping it.

The Alois Rašín’s Office exhibition will be incorporated into the People and Money exhibition from 3 February 2026. Admission to this exhibition, like all the other services offered by the Visitor Centre, is free of charge.
