Status of supervision

The Czech National Bank conducts financial market supervision on the basis of the authorisation laid down in Act No. 6/1993 Coll., on the Czech National Bank, as amended. Its supervisory obligations and powers in the individual sectors of the financial market are also set forth in individual sector-specific acts and, in the case of capital market supervision, also in a separate law – Act No. 15/1998 Coll., on Supervision in the Capital Market Area and on the Amendment of Other Acts, as amended.

Although the core supervisory activities are identical or very alike across the individual sectors, certain specificities do exist. These ensue primarily from the different nature of the activities of the individual types of financial market institutions. The main features of the position and tasks of supervision of the individual areas of the financial market can be found on the following pages.
