Commentary on the main indicators
The total assets of the Czech banking sector stood at CZK 11,408 billion at the end of December 2025, down by CZK 160 billion month on month. In year-on-year terms, they increased by CZK 770 billion. Loans to residents are the predominant asset item. Their volume reached CZK 7,663 billion. Deposits of residents, which are the most important item among banking sector liabilities, totalled CZK 7,565 billion.

The volume of loans to resident households amounted to CZK 2,580 billion in December and increased by 0.7%, or CZK 17 billion month on month. As regards the breakdown of these loans by purpose, the largest share consists of loans for house purchase, which account for 77% of the total volume of loans to households. Their volume reached CZK 1,986 billion in December, up by 0.7% (CZK 14 billion) month on month. The volume of non-performing loans stood at CZK 32.2 billion, down by CZK 0.1 billion month on month. Their share in total loans also decreased, down by 0.1 percentage point to 1.2%.

The volume of loans to resident non-financial corporations amounted to CZK 1,491 billion in December, up by 0.2% (CZK 2 billion) month on month. In terms of original maturity, long-term loans remain dominant, accounting for 55% of the total volume. Their volume rose by CZK 21 billion to CZK 827 billion in December. An increase was also recorded by medium-term loans, whose volume rose by CZK 4 billion to CZK 364 billion. By contrast, short-term loans decreased by CZK 22 billion to CZK 300 billion. The volume of non-performing loans stood at CZK 36.3 billion in December (down by CZK 0.9 billion) and their share in total loans declined by 0.1 percentage point to 2.4%.
