Zuzana Silberová becomes EIOPA Vice-Chair

Zuzana Silberová, Executive Director of the Financial Market Supervision Department of the Czech National Bank (CNB), has become the Vice-Chair of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). She has been elected for a term from 28 January 2025 to 27 January 2030.

I would like to congratulate Zuzana Silberová on her election as EIOPA Vice-Chair. I regard this success as acknowledgement of her work so far representing the Czech National Bank in the management of this European supervisory authority, as well as the high quality of CNB financial market supervision. This confirms once again that the CNB has highly erudite experts who are respected in the Czech Republic and abroad,” said CNB Governor Aleš Michl.

Zuzana Silberová will replace Peter Braumüller, director of Austria’s insurance company supervision, who has held this post for the last ten years and will soon retire.

Zuzana Silberová has been at the helm of the Financial Market Supervision Department since 2017. She graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Masaryk University in Brno and the Prague University of Economics and Business. She also passed a certified long-term training programme at the Czech Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Czech).

She was an alternate member of the boards of the EBA and EIOPA from 2011 and has been a member of the EBA and EIOPA Boards of Supervisors since March 2017. Since 2018, she has been a member of the EIOPA Supervisory Steering Committee and since 2020 also a member of the Policy Steering Committee. From April 2018, she was a member of the EIOPA Management Board for two terms of office. She is a member of the EIOPA Mediation Panel. She has also been a member of the board of the Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA) since autumn 2024.

She lectures at conferences and seminars in the Czech Republic and abroad. She has been a member of the Czech Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Czech) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) since 2002. Her activities on the IIA Czech Board have focused, among other things, on the development of further education of internal auditors.
