At its meeting on 30 October 2008, the Bank Board decided to appoint Mr Jiří Kalivoda as Director of the Insurance Supervision Division of the CNB’s Financial Market Supervision Department with effect from 1 November 2008.

Jiří Kalivoda (32) graduated from the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at the University of Economics in Prague. He was employed at the CNB as a banking supervision inspector in 2000–2005. He then worked as an internal auditor at Česká pojišťovna and subsequently at PPF (until the end of 2006). He re-joined the Czech National Bank in February 2007 as a chief insurance supervision inspector. He has attended numerous seminars dealing primarily with insurance, insurance risks and reinsurance and with banking supervision.
