President appoints Zdeněk Tůma as new CNB Governor

At Lány Castle today, President Václav Havel appointed the current Vice-Governor, Zdeněk Tůma, as new Governor of the Czech National Bank with effect from 1 December 2000. The President also appointed Bank Board member Luděk Niedermayer as new Vice-Governor and Michaela Erbenová and Jan Frait as new Bank Board members.

Tůma was appointed head of the central bank until 2005. Niedermayer was named Vice-Governor until 2002 and Erbenová and Frait for the full six-year term of office.
