Is it possible to purchase Czech specimen banknotes?
The Czech National Bank provides specimen notes only to those foreign central banks with which
it has concluded an agreement on the exchange of specimen money. There are more than one hundred
such banks. The CNB neither provides nor sells specimens to any other entities, nor does it sell
banknotes proper, since it does not carry on exchange office activities and does not provide
special numismatic services. At CNB branches, banknotes can be exchanged only for other Czech notes
or coins. We recommend that applicants go to banks or exchange offices in their home country and
buy the Czech notes there. If no bank or exchange office in the relevant country has Czech
currency, the applicant can try to request sale of Czech banknotes from one of the Czech commercial
banks.
