Exchanging damaged banknotes and coins

  1. Damaged Czech banknotes and coins are exchangeable at commercial banks and the Czech National Bank in accordance with Act No. 136/2011 Coll. (pdf, 267 kB), on circulation of banknotes and coins.
  2. Damaged foreign-currency banknotes are exchangeable at the central banks of the relevant countries in accordance with the legislation in force in those countries. Some Czech commercial banks buy damaged foreign-currency banknotes for a fee specified in their schedules of rates and charges.
  3. Damaged euro banknotes are exchangeable at national central banks of euro area countries in accordance with the Decision of the European Central Bank of 20 March 2003 on the denominations, specifications, reproduction, exchange and withdrawal of euro banknotes (ECB/2003/4).
